Booking a Photography Session for Senior Pictures

I can’t believe that I am saying this, but I just booked a photography session for my son to get his senior pictures taken! What the means is that he will be a senior this fall. I can’t believe how fast time flies. It seems like just yesterday he was learning to walk and now he will be walking around as a senior in high school. Before I know it he will be off to college and then on his own. Though it makes a little sad, at least I have another year before he moves out.

And I will have some great pictures from a professional photography studio. I am really excited about these pictures and he hasn’t even had them taken yet! I suppose the reason is that I had my pictures taken by the same photography place and I loved them. I can’t believe they are still around over twenty years later, but that must mean that they are really good at what they do. Hopefully he will want to do some of the same poses that I did when I was a senior, but I doubt it!

One thing that will really neat is that we will be getting some family pictures taken as well by this photography studio. It has been a while since we had any done so I thought it was about time. I can’t wait to have his senior pictures and our family pictures hanging up on the wall at home! Photos are an easy way to preserve your memories and display them for all your guests to enjoy.

Yesterday’s Fashions Make A Comeback

Fashion is amazing to watch and keep track of. The ever changing styles always seem to make a come back, even those tight roll jeans of yester year. Of course I love that everyone has his or her own sense of style. Yes, I may have seen someone with the ever popular 90’s tight rolled ankle, it may not be a trending fashion for the main stream but it is fashion forward for this old gal I saw and that’s a o.k.

Color trends come and go but fashion styles will always be making comebacks with just a little modification. Skinny jeans with bows and zippers at the ankles were hot when I was in high school. I haven’t seen them in over fifteen years but last winter what did I see? Yep… skinny’s with zippered ankles and bows. While I rocked the look in high school, my mama body doesn’t like the skinny jean quite so much. It took a little work, but with a blousy shirt and tall boots I can pull it off.

Even big hair is back, maybe not as stringy as it was in the 80’s but big, full hairstyles are all the rage. This is a good thing for southern girls like me! My hair is otherwise stuck flat to my head and I like a little volume. Here in the south, we like to say, “The bigger the hair, the closer to God.”

To be up to date in the fashion world could cost an arm and a leg but you can pull off the same styles with different names on the tags and a few less numbers on the price tag. I love to shop at TJ Maxx and Ross, but I’ve always wanted to make my own clothing too. If I only wore dresses I could possibly pull that off but seeing as how I’ve not sewn a dress before I should probably start with a simple tunic style or maxi dress first before I deck my entire wardrobe out in one of a kind handmade garments.

Check Out the Fashion Flashbacks

Is today’s fashion a deja vu or what? I am seeing neon, high tops, and I really think I might have seen some parachute pants the other day. Don’t hold me to that last one though. Isn’t it strange how things come back around? The cutoff jeans with tights, I’m telling you that is straight out of the early 90’s. Some of these flashbacks are from the late 80’s. I’m in my late twenties, and I just wasn’t ready for this new/old transition. I teach teenagers, and for the most part my kids are pretty up on the newest fashion. I suppose it’s the oldest fashion.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, oh no, it’s not overalls!!! Yep, even the oh-so-grungy overalls are making a comeback. The grunge look, much like it did in the 90’s is only plaguing a few kids, while other more fashion savvy kids seem to be immune to its wiles. And what would grunge be without some plaid flannel? Oh yes, just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, bib overalls, plaid flannel overshirt, and wait for it…a bucket hat! I kid you not, I totally saw one of my teenagers wearing this ensemble just this week.

Shuddering away from the grunge look is the look that won’t die. I’m talking of course about the preppy look. Boat shoes, Bermuda short, and a polo with a Lacrosse emblem. While I’m not sure this style ever went out, I am certainly seeing a revival now. What’s that about? I wonder how the kids would react if they saw all of their teachers wearing the same clothes they are wearing, only twenty years ago?

4 Fierce Fashion Trends for Spring 2012

Every year a few styles are introduced which set the tone for the entire year. 2012 won’t be any different. There are some things you should get used to seeing this year.

Color will be a really big deal. Instead of achieving a bright look from layering clothing, this year you can expect to see a lot of color on a single garment. The style is called color blocking. The great thing about color blocking will be that you can wear some colors you normal can’t get away with, as long as that block of unflattering color isn’t near your face. Another perk of color blocking will be the ability to use the blocks of brilliant color to hide some of your flaws. Choose garments that don’t have more than three colors.

You won’t have to worry about looking silly this year when it rains. Several of the top fashion designers have taken advantage anoraks and turned them into something that won’t just keep your dry, but will also turn heads. You should expect to see some really sport looking anoraks being worn in all types of weather. The trick when choosing an anorak is to find one that fits really well, has a belt, and is in a neutral tone that can be worn with lots of different colors.

Plan on wearing some orange in 2012. This year fashion designers seem to be pulled towards all varieties of the colors. When choosing clothing in orange remember that different people will look better in different shades of the color so choose the shade that flatters your coloring. You also need to remember that a little orange goes a long way, so don’t overdo it.

If you thought that cameo only came in earth tones and was only worn in the woods, this year’s fashion designers aim to prove your wrong. They’ve taken and old thing, cameo, and given it a new twist, bright colors. Colored cameo does an excellent job highlighting curves and softening points, creating a lovely hourglass figure.

Take Your Photography to the Next Level

Photography has become a very popular hobby. There are many professional photography classes offered at colleges now and some people are finding their calling behind the lens. Photography can be a side job or a full time job for many. With cameras now being digital, the expense is not as great as it once was with film and processing.

You don’t need a professional setup to process your film and thanks to digital cameras, you don’t have to be an expert on the inner workings of film at all! If you are an amateur photographer, getting the hang of a few basic tricks can make your photos stand out from the crowd. Try these little tricks for a more professional photo the next time you are snapping shots with your camera.

First, choose your background with care. The background should never take over the people in the picture. Instead, you want it to emphasize the individuals. Think of the background as a way to create a story for the picture. A background can also give the picture more depth and color.

Second, learn how to work with shadowing. Many people love pictures of their shadow on the side of building or a shadow of their children walking together down a path. This is a different kind of effect but can be a great new way to add some different views in a picture profile.

Finally, consider adding some quirky touches to your photographs. Instead of centering your subject, angle the camera so that they appear on the side of the shot. Use an extreme zoom or shoot from a far distance. Going beyond the typical portrait studio style of photography can really take a bland portrait setting and turn it into something truly stunning.

Fashion Tips for Pregnant Women

Contrary to what magazines would like us to think, pregnancy does not often leave a woman feeling sexy and ready for a night out on the town. We often just give up on fashion entirely and reach for the baggiest pair of sweatpants and extra-large t-shirts we can find. While comfort is a must, you can also be fashionable and show off that new baby bump; here’s a couple of tips to help get you out of the pregnancy fashion rut you are stuck in.

Denim is Still Your Friend

While baggy sweats are hands-down more comfortable than pretty much anything else, there are jeans out there that are cute, comfy, and flattering. Do some looking around and you are sure to find something that you like; from under belly waists to full belly panels, there really is something for everyone. Remember that we’ve come a long way since your mom was wearing maternity clothes; there are even designer jeans for pregnant gals that you would never even guess were maternity. Get yourself a couple of pairs in different shades and styles- you’ll want them for the first little while after the baby’s born.

Stock up on T-shirts

That jeans-and-a-t-shirt look is one that you can never go wrong with-even while pregnant. Get some t-shirts in different colors and styles; they are oh so simple and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.  Plain T’s without cartoons or other propaganda all over the front are your best bet; though you might think that Minnie Mouse is adorable, you are not doing yourself any favors by stretching her across your belly.

You Cannot Go Wrong With an Empire Waist

Empire waists are truly a godsend in the maternity world, and the good news is you probably won’t even have to find them in a maternity store-just buy them from your favorite store in a bigger size. Empire waist dresses and tops have a seam right above the belly that adds definition to your new curves and bump. They really accentuate your belly and distinguish it from the rest of your figure so that you don’t look like your whole body is the same size as your bump.

Bring on the Bling

Because most maternity clothes tend to be plain, now is the time to break out all that chunky jewelry that you love. Spice up any outfit with big, bold jewelry; it will be hard for you to wear it when you have a new baby constantly trying to pull on it. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter of your life; make the most of it and look good doing it!

Kicking Difficult Habits for Good

Two of the most difficult things to do in life are losing weight and quitting smoking. At least, those are the two hardest tasks that I have ever faced. But I know that I am not alone. There are many others just like me who are facing the same struggles with cigarettes or food. The one difference between me and them is that I am going to attempt to eliminate both of my bad habits at the same time.

Like many other people, the reason for this drastic life change is health related. Not only is smoking holding me back, but my weight is causing major issues with my organs. While it may be difficult, I have decided that the best way to conquer the smoking side of the issue is by replacing my old cigarettes with e-cigarettes.

- Electronic Cigarettes Reviews is a great online resource where you can learn more about South Beach Smoke and find South Beach Smoke Coupon Codes.

While many people may doubt that I can quit smoking and lose weight at the same time, I think that trying a new way of smoking will make all the difference in the world. Before when I have tried to quit smoking, I just stopped smoking cold turkey. This was how I gained all of my extra weight. Clearly this was not the best option for me and is not something I want to try again.

The thing that appealed to me most about trying nontraditional cigarettes is that I get to control how much nicotine is in my cigarette. As I gradually reduce this amount, I think I will be less likely to crave a cigarette. Before I know it, I hope that I will no longer feel the need to have any cigarettes at all. And if I do, it is nice to know that I have the option of nicotine free smoking with my alternative cigarette.

- To read electronic cigarette and e-cig cartridges reviews from others who have quit smoking with these kinds of cigarettes or to find money saving electronic cigarette coupons go online now.

Fashion Tips for Middle Aged Women

Listen up, ladies; just because you have reached your 40’s does not mean that your vocabulary must now include the words “middle-aged,” or “frumpy.” You are still young and beautiful and you still deserve to be seen that way. All it takes is knowing the dos and don’ts of 40-year-old fashion, and you’ll feel like you’re in your 20’s again (without looking like you are actually trying to be 20).

Bring out the Best

No matter what age you are, the first rule of fashion is to always accentuate your best feature. By this point, you should be well aware of what styles flatter your curves and which colors really make you stand out. Stick with what works for you, not what you see on the covers of magazines or on runway models.

Also remember that less is more; you are a sophisticated woman and your wardrobe should reflect that. Stick with solid colors and clean lines and try to stay away from loud, busy prints. Though they may seem simple and even “boring,” remember that you can pair these pieces with a trendy pair of shoes or your favorite jewelry for a totally new look; something you can’t do with a Hawaiian tropics T-shirt.

Try New Things…Tastefully

Fashions are constantly changing and new styles are coming in and going out just as fast. If you happen to see a new style that you particularly like, don’t tell yourself that you are “too old” to give it a try.

Skinny jeans, for instance; buy a pair of simple, fashionable skinny jeans and pair them with a loose top and cardigan. This way you still look your age but very fashion forward at the same time. You just have to be smart about what you choose; stay away from zippered ankles, destructed jeans, and by all means do not throw on a pair of sneakers with the jeans just because you saw a Hollywood star do it.

By 40, you know fashion and you know what works for you. At this point in your life, you are not trying to follow current trends, but rather create a style that is all your own and leaves you feeling sexy, chic, and confident.

Sneak Preview of Summer’s Trends

Believe it or not the 1970’s simply will not go away.  Revamped modern takes on fashion that was popular during the disco era is making a comeback this summer.  But before you go pulling out your old bell bottoms, remember that not everything is on the rebound! If you have fish heel platforms in the closet, they can stay there. The main looks that are being pulled from the 1970’s this summer are the bohemian styles and the sophisticated glam look of the 70‘s movie stars.  Shimmering dresses and high-waisted pants can be worn again in a perfectly fashionable manner.

While leather motorcycle jackets have managed to cement their place as a classic item of clothing, other biker inspired gear is finding its way on the radar this summer.  While no one expects you to rock a motorcycle jacket in the blazing heat (though there are some really cute thin ones that can be pulled off on a summer evening), biker accents have found their way on many items of clothing.  Zipped sleeves and buckle accents are some of the most common features on clothing items that pick up the essence of the biker trend.

Elements of punk fashion, which experienced a resurgence last year, are sticking around for another year.  Leather, a staple of the punk fashion scene, finds its way into everything from jewelry to hats to shirts and skirts.  While you should not rush pout to go crazy putting studs on every piece of clothing that you own, studs do capture the edge of rebelliousness that is the crux of punk fashion, so a liberal sprinkling of studded clothing in your closet is not a bad thing.

Last but not least a desire to look just plain classy is one of the trends to look out for this summer.  The dresses and skirts and the long silhouettes of the 50’s and 60’s are popping up again on the runway.  The classic sheath has to be one of the most functional items in any woman’s closet and it is great to see the lines slightly updated to highlight modern contours.  With these tips in hand, you can be the picture of fashion this summer.

Fashion for New Moms

So you’re a mommy now, and while you spend hours dressing your new baby to make sure he or she looks absolutely perfect at every moment, you lack the energy and enthusiasm to make sure you look good too. The good news is it doesn’t have to be difficult; with just a few minor wardrobe adjustments, you can look and feel just as photo-ready as your new little one.

A Simple Balancing Act

While you may be missing the tiny waist and flat belly you had before the baby, you have to admit that pregnancy has given you some pretty nice new curves; not to mention a fuller chest. The trick then is to accentuate those curves, hide the problem areas, be fashion forward, and still be comfortable; I promise it’s really very simple.

Jeans and Skirts

For your bottom half, stick to jeans that fit your widest part and is either straight leg or slightly flared. Stay away from jeans with a lot of embellishments around the hips or butt since that will only draw attention to them. Another excellent choice are skirts that are fuller and have an A-line shape since these flare away from your body and create an hourglass shape. While you may feel inclined to wear baggy jeans or sweatpants, don’t give in. baggy generally just equals sloppy and that is definitely not what you want.

Tops

Empire waists are your best friend during pregnancy and continue to be a close confidant after. These tops with a seam below the bust line help to accentuate curves and still leave your waist looking small.

V-necks are also an excellent option since they draw the eyes upward and away from your torso. It’s also definitely a good idea to stay away from the tight baby T’s, or anything with Hello Kitty or other cartoon characters (or give them away all together); you’re a mom now and if you want to be taken seriously you can’t be looking like you squeezed into one of your child’s tops.

Simplicity is Key

Wear clothing that allows you to feel stylish but comfortable. You deserve to feel good about yourself and your baby deserves a mommy that will instill confidence in him or her. Your body is going to keep changing for the next little while, so get used to regular wardrobe adjustments and don’t be afraid to spoil yourself every once in a while.
